The false alarm turned out to be a faulty door sensor. It was snowing, so I can see the virgin snow, 30 minutes of no recording, then all the footprints the police left.

All three cameras totally blacked out for about a 30 minute period, which happened to be while the cops were there. The central station did call the cops, who responded and checked out the perimeter. I logged into QVR Pro to see if there was an actual break-in. My alarm system went off last week during the night (home was empty). The system is still usable and will hopefully get better over time. The interface (as another person here wrote) is pretty bad. QVR Pro has improved tremendously over the past year. I'm running a 253be with three Reolink cameras (the 423 PTZ models). I would appreciate any input into setting up a surveillance system with QVR Pro. I don't see ever needing more than 8 cameras.

Also I ordered an 8gb RAM kit for my TS-453Be to upgrade it from its oem 2gb. I did already order one ReoLink RCL-410 5mp camera since it was on sale for around $30 the other day, so I could start with this one camera. I would still need to get a few parts like a good PoE Switch. I will somewhat easily be able to wire my cameras with good quality CAT 6 or 5e all copper wire since I have a single story attic and can run the wire to each camera fairly easily. And since my QNAP NAS has a free 8 Camera Channel/14 day retention license for QVR Pro, I'm looking into if setting up my first security camera system with my QNAP NAS and QVR Pro would be a good way to go. I also have been wanting to set up a home security camera system also. I wanted to replace an old home server I have and decided on getting a QNAP TS-453Be.
